Despite ongoing leadership crisis, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has resolved to proceed with its national convention.

This is as the Party released an updated list of its convention committee and subcommittees ahead of its national convention, which is scheduled for April 14, 2026.

This development occurs amid persistent leadership tensions within the party and a standoff with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Previously, INEC declined to recognize the national leadership led by Sen. David Mark, pending the resolution of court cases—some of which have hearing dates that coincide with the planned convention.

In a statement issued on April 12, 2026, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, explained that the update aims to strengthen coordination and ensure a seamless convention process.

The list, signed by National Organizing Secretary Chinedu Idigo, includes high-profile appointments: former Cross River State Governor, Sen. Liyel Imoke, has been named Chairman of the National Convention Central Coordination Committee, with Sen. Aminu Tambuwal serving as Deputy Chairman.

The party leadership urged all committee members to execute their responsibilities with diligence and called on stakeholders to support the transition process.

As of press time, INEC has not issued any further statements regarding the upcoming convention.
