Brake failure leads to fatal trailer accident in Ibadan

Tragedy struck the Beere and Oje areas of Ibadan on Tuesday afternoon when a trailer suffered a mechanical failure, resulting in at least three confirmed deaths and several injuries.

The truck, which was descending from the Beere Roundabout, reportedly lost its brakes after navigating through Oja’Oba.

Out of control, the vehicle rammed into a crowd of pedestrians, motorcycles, tricycles, and other vehicles.

Eyewitnesses and officials from the State Fire Service, including Mr. Muftau Amoo, noted that the most significant destruction occurred at Iso-Osan, popularly known as the Orange Market.

Security agencies arrived swiftly to manage the chaotic scene and maintain order.

The deceased have been moved to a local morgue, while those injured are currently receiving treatment at nearby hospitals.

The incident has left residents in mourning as the community awaits a formal report from the road safety and security authorities regarding the total casualty count and the identity of the driver.
