EFCC takes possession of Malami’s Abuja Residence

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has on Tuesday taken possession of the Maitama residence belonging to the former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami.

The operation, which began in the early hours of March 24, 2026, saw a large contingent of anti-graft personnel arriving at the property located at No. 2 Koranakh Close, off Amazon Street in at least five buses.

Led by an official identified as Folarin Dare, the team immediately barricaded the road leading to the mansion, effectively cutting off access to the area and sealing the premises.

Witnesses at the scene reported that the operatives maintained a strict perimeter, preventing movement in and out of the street as they executed the forfeiture move.

This latest action is reportedly a significant escalation in an ongoing investigation into allegations of financial impropriety involving the former Minister, who served under the previous administration.

The EFCC has been trailing several high-profile assets linked to the ex-AGF as part of a broader probe into his tenure.

While the commission has not yet released an official statement detailing the specific charges tied to this property, the presence of such a heavily armed unit suggests a court-sanctioned move toward temporary or permanent forfeiture.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the area remained under the control of the commission, with the street cordoned off to both vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Legal representatives for the former Attorney-General have yet to issue a formal response to the morning's developments.
