The Benue Investment and Property Company Limited (BIPC) has received 16 truckloads of machinery for the forthcoming Food Basket Brewery, situated at Akile along the Makurdi–Gboko Road.
Group Managing Director of BIPC, Dr Raymond Asemakaha, CFA, together with senior management staff, received the consignment at the company’s corporate headquarters before escorting it to the brewery site.
Dr Asemakaha explained that the 16 containers represent the initial batch of 50 truckloads of equipment expected from the People’s Republic of China. He described the delivery as a direct outcome of Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia’s recent mission to China to advance industrial investment in Benue State.
He disclosed that Chinese technical experts were already en route to Nigeria to commence installation of the machinery, with production scheduled to begin by the end of October 2025.
According to him, the brewery will generate 200 direct jobs in its first phase and an additional 200 in the second phase, alongside over 1,000 indirect employment opportunities.
With a designed daily output of 10,000 crates, the brewery aims to leverage the estimated ₦1 billion monthly beer consumption market in Benue State.
Dr Asemakaha expressed appreciation to Governor Alia for his steadfast support of BIPC, reaffirming the company’s commitment to the administration’s industrialisation drive.
BIPC Company Secretary Josephat Ioryoosu, Esq., commended the governor, the GMD, and the management team for their commitment, describing the brewery as a strategic step towards strengthening the state’s economy and providing jobs for its youth.
Head of Business Development and Strategy, Theresa Abeda, also praised Governor Alia for enabling BIPC to spearhead his industrial transformation agenda, pledging the company’s readiness to reposition Benue’s economy through impactful investments.
