A popular business man, revered political figure and the chairman of the Truck owners association of Nigeria, Ogun state chapter, Alh. Bamidele Isiaka was last Sunday, 20th July 2025, attacked and stabbed multiple times by unknown assailants suspected to be political assassins believed to be associated with a camp of the ruling APC, Abeokuta chapter.
The horrible incident which occurred around 9:05 pm in his residence at no 5 Adekunle street, Isale Abetu area of Abeokuta in Ogun state generated a heated atmosphere in and around the area leaving many bewildered as to the clandestine nature of the attack and the perpetrators
Alh. Bamidele Isiaka, who was said to have fainted, was left in the pool of his own blood before neighbours and sympathisers came to his aid and rushed to the hospital.
Alh. Bamidele Isiaka, according to family sources and accounts of friends and relatives, had suffered similar attacks in the past which led to the disappearance of his wife and two children almost two years ago.
One Yemi Bamidele, his blood brother, while speaking to this reporter, recounted how Alh. Bamidele had run for his dear life after two futile attempts to take his life and that of his family.
He revealed that Alh. Bamidele has not seen his wife and children since February 2023 after the last attack where the assailants tried to rape and kidnap the children and wife but for the bravery of the wife and the intervention of some local vigilantes whose office are close to their apartment
Alh. Bamidele Isiaka had to leave the state for exile for safety reasons. Yemi Bamidele further revealed that the wife and children had been advised to stay where they are as the assailants had vowed to wipe out the entire family.
Neighbours who were at home during the attack told Newsdirect that they overheard the assassins telling Alh. Bamidele that their plan was to kill his wife and children so as to render him and his wealth useless and desolate because they know how dear he holds his family.
Alh. Bamidele’s ordeal was said to have emanated from his activities in the build up to, and during the last general elections, most especially the house of assembly election.
The wealthy politician was said to have campaigned, canvassed votes, and sponsored candidates of the people’s Democratic party. Although many of the PDP candidates lost, his preferred candidates, the house of assembly candidate won the seat for the house defeating the APC candidate.
This was said to have irked the candidate who lost and his supporters as well as the APC leadership in the state. Some political quarters in the state also attest to the aforementioned
Eyewitness accounts from neighbours revealed that Alh. Bamidele was stabbed multiple times in the stomach in a cruel attack to take his life, wondering how the revered PDP stalwart managed to remain alive with many saying the attacks were politically motivated.
Meanwhile, members of the TOAN, the union he chaired, have called on the security agencies in the state to expedite investigation into the matter and bring the culprits to book to serve as a deterrent to others.
They condemned in strong terms the attack on their chairman whom they described as straightforward, easy-going and a philanthropist.
Attempts to speak to Alh. Bamidele has proved abortive as his doctors and nurses has since prevented him from receiving visitors because of his health condition but confirmed that he is in a stable condition
Efforts to reach the security agencies proved abortive as calls put to their lines were not attended to nor returned as at the time of filing this report.
