APC takes early lead in Lagos LG elections

The All Progressives Congress (APC) is leading in Saturday’s local government elections across Lagos State, as vote sorting and collation continue in all 20 local government areas and 37 local council development areas (LCDAs).

Despite the peaceful conduct of the exercise, voter turnout was noticeably low across several polling units.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, after casting his vote at Polling Unit 006, Ward E, Adeniji-Adele, admitted that minor logistical challenges delayed the early start of voting in some areas. He attributed the hitches to movement constraints and assured residents that the process had stabilised.

As of 4:00pm, preliminary updates from various polling units showed the APC holding a commanding lead in chairmanship and councillorship races. The party dominated key areas including Yaba, Somolu, Bariga, Ikeja, Agege, and Sanwo-Olu’s own unit at St. Stephen’s Nursery and Primary School, Adeniji-Adele.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was trailing in second place, while the Labour Party (LP) occupied third position in most locations.

Final results are expected to be officially announced by the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) after collation concludes.
