Voting has commenced at Polling Unit 006, St. Stephens Nursery and Primary School, Adeniji Adele, Lagos Island, where Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is expected to cast his ballot in the ongoing local government elections.

Officials of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) arrived at the polling unit at the stipulated time of 8:00 a.m., allowing the exercise to begin promptly.

The elections, which will produce chairmen and councillors across Lagos’ 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), have seen a large deployment of security operatives to maintain law and order.

Sanwo-Olu’s media aide, Jubril Gawat, has already cast his vote at the polling unit. Police officers were also sighted providing security as voters turned up to perform their civic duties.
