…targets 200,000 new members in first month

The Adamawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially launched its electronic membership registration project, marking a major shift in how the party manages its internal records.

The initiative was unveiled on Monday during a stakeholders’ meeting in Yola, which drew party chairmen, senior officials, and influential members from all 21 local government areas.

Addressing attendees, the State APC Secretary, Dr Raymond Chidama, said the digital registration system would transform the party’s organisational structure.

“This digital system will help us know our members, identify them accurately, and extend opportunities to the right people,” Chidama explained, stressing that proper data management is essential for strategic planning.

The APC Organising Secretary and Coordinator of the project, Mustapha Ribadu, said the innovation became necessary after analysing the party’s voting strength in recent elections. He noted that the figures did not align with its reported membership, prompting the decision to authenticate and update records.

Ribadu added that the party is aiming for at least 200,000 new members within the first month of the exercise, saying the target is achievable with coordinated effort.

A key party stakeholder and governorship hopeful, Abdulrahman Haske, praised the initiative, insisting it would further consolidate the APC’s strength ahead of the 2027 elections.

Haske said: “We will take back Adamawa State. Adamawa is APC and APC is Adamawa. We lost the state in 2019 and 2023 due to internal divisions, but we have addressed those issues and are firmly on the path to victory.”
