After four decades of rented offices, Sanwo-Olu commissions FRCN’s new headquarters

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tuesday commissioned the new eight-storey headquarters of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRCN) on Allen Avenue, Ikeja, ending the regulatory body’s more than four decades of operating from rented premises.

The inauguration of the permanent complex represents a major operational milestone for the FRCN, which is statutorily mandated to promote and enforce financial reporting standards and corporate governance principles across Nigeria’s economic sectors.

Speaking at the ceremony, Sanwo-Olu stated that the regulatory agency’s permanent presence in Lagos will unlock substantial economic opportunities and stimulate ancillary professional services.

He noted that the council’s activities would generate sustained demand across the legal, accounting, management consultancy, information technology, hospitality, and logistics sectors.

Sanwo-Olu added that establishing the council’s headquarters in Ikeja further consolidates Lagos State’s position as the nation’s premier commercial, financial, and professional services hub.

The Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the FRCN, Dr. Rabiu Olowo, described the completion of the edifice as a transformative achievement that will bolster the agency’s institutional independence and regulatory reach.

Olowo stated that operating from a purpose-built workstation will improve the council’s capacity to drive transparency, enhance corporate accountability, and elevate Nigeria’s financial reporting ecosystem to match international benchmarks.

He noted that the modern facility provides a stable, world-class base to boost the regulator’s global competitiveness and reinforce investor confidence across the Nigerian financial architecture.
