The Ekiti State Government has assured residents that the ongoing construction of the second flyover in Ado-Ekiti will be completed before the end of March this year.

The State Commissioner for Works, Mr. Sola Adebayo, gave the assurance in Ado-Ekiti during the New Year prayer session and preparatory meeting for the Ministry’s 2026 activities. He noted that the project forms part of the government’s strategic intervention to decongest traffic and enhance the aesthetics of the state capital.

Mr. Adebayo further disclosed that several other road projects currently under construction across the state would be completed and officially commissioned before the end of October 2026. According to him, this aligns with the commitment of the administration to improve road infrastructure and ensure ease of movement for residents.

The commissioner commended staff of the Ministry of Works for their dedication and commitment, describing their efforts in the past year as instrumental to the successful execution of key government projects.

In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Engineer Olukayode Ibijola, charged staff to maintain high standards of punctuality and discipline, warning that lateness to duty and official assignments would no longer be tolerated. He also cautioned against the leakage of official information, stressing that any breach would attract sanctions in line with the Public Service Rules.

Earlier, the Director of Administration and Supply, Mr. Bunmi Oluwalana, delivered a brief exhortation with readings from Genesis 1:3 and John 1:5 under the theme “Let There Be Light.” He explained that light symbolizes freedom, progress and divine direction, while darkness represents ignorance and stagnation.

Mr. Oluwalana encouraged staff to embrace godly knowledge, noting that anyone without God remains in darkness, and urged those yet to give their lives to Christ to do so.

The programme ended with special prayers for staff of the Ministry, Ekiti State and the nation at large.
