The Lagos State House of Assembly has pledged to enact more people-oriented laws in 2026 to deepen good governance and accelerate development across the state.

The commitment was made on Tuesday by the Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Security and Strategy, Mr Stephen Ogundipe, who represents Oshodi-Isolo Constituency I.

He described 2025 as an eventful and productive year for the Assembly, assuring residents that lawmakers would build on the gains recorded.

Ogundipe said the House, under the leadership of Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, has lined up several activities and legislative initiatives aimed at surpassing its 2025 achievements.

He cited key laws passed in the outgoing year, including the Lagos State Tenancy and Recovery of Premises Bill, the Local Government Administration Bill, and the Lagos Electricity Bill, as evidence of the Assembly’s impact.

According to him, the lawmakers remain committed to their mandate and will continue to work in synergy with the executive arm of government to move the state forward.

The lawmaker urged Lagos residents to remain faithful in paying their taxes, noting that sustained revenue generation is critical to effective service delivery.

He also commended Speaker Obasa for his leadership and praised legislative staff for their dedication to duty.

The Assembly reaffirmed its resolve to prioritise legislation that directly improves the welfare and living conditions of Lagosians in the new year.
