Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has appealed to security agencies to uphold neutrality and professionalism amid the state’s evolving political climate, stressing that Osun, the home state of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, must not become a political battleground.
The Governor made this call on Wednesday at the Government House, Osogbo, during the decoration of his Aide-De-Camp (ADC), Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ahmed Bio Abdulraman. The event was attended by the Osun State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Gotan; State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Mr. Igbalawole Sotiyo; Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Sector Commander, Mr. Leye Adegboyega; and other service chiefs.
Commending the Nigeria Police Force for its professionalism, Adeleke praised the Inspector General of Police and the Osun Command for their discipline and respect for due process. He particularly lauded Commissioner Gotan’s leadership style, which he said has fostered peace and order across the state.
The Governor emphasised the importance of political neutrality among security operatives.
“We should continue to maintain a level playing field. This is the home state of Mr. President. Mr. President belongs to all of us. Osun should not be turned into a battleground,” he said.
Turning to the celebrant, Adeleke described DSP Abdulraman as a loyal and disciplined officer who represents the best values of the police force. He congratulated him on his promotion, noting that the police remain a key institution in Nigeria’s growth and stability.
Adeleke also acknowledged the sacrifices of security personnel across the country, describing the Nigeria Police as a “blessed organisation” deserving of public appreciation and government support.
In his goodwill message, Commissioner Gotan congratulated DSP Abdulraman, reminding him that promotion comes with greater responsibility.
He urged the officer to remain committed to professionalism, discipline, and the highest ideals of policing.
Gotan reaffirmed the command’s commitment to fairness, human rights, and the rule of law, while assuring the Governor that the police would continue to sustain peace and security in the state.
He also encouraged officers to emulate Abdulraman’s hard work and dedication, describing him as a role model within the Force.
