Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has appealed to all eligible residents to seize the opportunity of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise to secure their voter cards ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The governor made the appeal in Lafia on Wednesday during the launch of a sensitisation and voter education campaign organised by the All Progressives Congress (APC). The event also marked two years in office of the State APC Chairman, Dr Aliyu Bello, and Secretary, Dr Yarus Dagusa.

Represented by his deputy, Dr Emmanuel Akabe, Governor Sule expressed concern that Nasarawa remained among states with the lowest number of registered voters, citing data from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). He encouraged residents to act quickly to reverse the trend.

“As APC in Nasarawa State, the only way we can win all the elections in 2027; from the State House of Assembly to the National Assembly, governorship, presidential, is to get registered,” the governor stated.

Sule commended Dr Bello for what he described as courageous leadership and steadfast loyalty to the party. “Bello is a political juggernaut, fearless and always telling truth to power. He is a rare gem,” he said.

Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Dr Danladi Jatau, also congratulated Bello and other party executives on their second anniversary, praising them for fostering unity within the APC. He encouraged all eligible residents to fully embrace the CVR initiative.

Dr Bello, while addressing the gathering, said the campaign would be taken to all 13 local government areas of Nasarawa to ensure wider participation. “The victory we desire in 2027 cannot be achieved without voter registration because your vote is your weapon, so go and register today,” he said.

Dr Dagusa, the APC State Secretary, detailed the reconciliatory strategies that had attracted influential politicians to the party under Bello’s leadership.

Mr Safiyanu Andaha, Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in Nasarawa, pledged grassroots mobilisation for the exercise, while Mrs Esther Alu, North Central Zonal Women Leader, called for more opportunities for women in leadership, including positions such as deputy governor and speaker.
