Former House of Representatives member Hon Abdulmumin Jibrin has declared that President Bola Tinubu remains strongly positioned to secure re-election in 2027, regardless of political headwinds.
Speaking during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Jibrin, now a leading figure in the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) and a close associate of former Kano State governor Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, said he is convinced that Tinubu’s victory is inevitable.
“Again, I believe, I don’t see anything that can stop him (President Tinubu) from winning the election in 2027. I am not God, I said, again, I believe. So who do I believe in? God,” Jibrin remarked.
He added: “Call it anything you want to but I am a Tinubu person. I like him and he likes me. I think it’s also very important, even in a working environment, it is very important that you have a boss who likes you and you like him. So, that’s the point, irrespective of party affiliation, it’s been a great relationship.”
The former lawmaker, who openly described himself as a Tinubu loyalist despite his NNPP membership, said his allegiance to the president stemmed from mutual respect.
When asked if he would place Tinubu ahead of Kwankwaso, Jibrin avoided drawing a line between the two politicians, instead advocating collaboration between North and South to maintain Nigeria’s political equilibrium.
“No, no, no, I will choose Bola Tinubu and Kwankwaso to work together because I actually believe that the South should finish its term,” he stated.
