…Calls for excess funds to be channelled into health, education, poverty reduction

Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has called on President Bola Tinubu to demonstrate that the federal government’s record-breaking revenue performance is translating into tangible improvements in the lives of ordinary Nigerians.

In a statement posted on his Facebook page, Obi congratulated the president for surpassing the 2025 revenue target months ahead of schedule but argued that the achievement would remain hollow if citizens continue to face widespread economic hardship.

“For the next four months, every value of our excess revenue should be deliberately channelled into health, education, and pulling people out of poverty. This must be done transparently, with verifiable and measurable outcomes. Anything less will mean that revenue growth has not translated into national growth,” Obi stated.

He maintained that true economic stability cannot be gauged solely by revenue figures but by visible progress in public services, infrastructure development, and poverty alleviation. He noted that many critical projects remain underfunded, contractors are still owed payments, and essential services such as schools and hospitals remain in poor condition.
