The Edo State Government has dismissed concerns over the political influence of Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking during a live interview, Edo State Commissioner, Crusoe Ohonbamu, downplayed Obi’s relevance, stating that the All Progressives Congress (APC) does not see him as a political threat.

“Peter Obi is the least of our worries. APC can’t be threatened because of Peter Obi,” Ohonbamu said.

He criticised the former Anambra State governor’s policy clarity, saying: “Ask him what he will even do when he becomes president, and he’ll simply say, ‘Let me get there first.’ There is no clear-cut blueprint of what he wants to do.”

The comments come amid early speculations surrounding the 2027 presidential race and renewed debate over potential contenders.
