Yilwatda, Barau, Gbajabiamila, Ganduje storm House of Reps as two Kano NNPP lawmakers defect to APC

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, on Thursday led other top party figures, including the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Jibrin Barau, Chief of Staff to the President, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, and former APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, to the House of Representatives chamber to witness the defection of two lawmakers from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) to the ruling party.

The defectors are Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin, who represents Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency, and Hon. Sagir Koki, representing Kano Municipal Federal Constituency, both from Kano State.

In their separate letters read by the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, the lawmakers cited unresolved crises and internal divisions within the NNPP as reasons for their defection to the APC.

The Minority Leader, Hon. Kingsley Chinda, repeatedly raised a point of order challenging the defections, but he was not recognised by the Speaker, who proceeded with the formal reception of the new APC members.
