The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has intensified preparations for its 2025 National Elective Convention scheduled to hold on November 15 and 16 at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan, Oyo State.

In a statement released on Thursday via its official X handle, the party described the convention, tagged #Ibadan2025, as a historic milestone in its ongoing journey toward internal renewal and strategic readiness for the 2027 general elections.

According to the statement, over 3,000 delegates drawn from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory are expected to attend, alongside party leaders, stakeholders, and international observers, including members of the diplomatic community.

The two-day event will feature the election of key national officers, including a new National Chairman, and reaffirm the PDP’s commitment to unity, discipline, and democratic ideals.

In a statement signed by the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, who is hosting the convention, he noted that several venue inspections and logistical reviews had been concluded to ensure a smooth and successful outing.

The party said the Lekan Salami Stadium was being transformed into “a hub for democratic renewal,” with final touches being made to seating arrangements, stage design, lighting, and audio-visual systems under the direct supervision of the Oyo State Deputy Governor, Barr. Bayo Lawal, who chairs the Venue Sub-Committee of the National Convention Organising Committee (NCOC).

“Final preparations are in full swing. Stage setting and other arrangements are ongoing at the Lekan Salami Stadium for the PDP’s landmark #Ibadan2025 convention,” the statement added.

The PDP further expressed confidence that the convention would rekindle internal cohesion and strengthen its readiness to reclaim power at the national level ahead of the 2027 elections.
