…Says Senate remains united behind Tinubu’s reforms

…Hints Soludo’s imminent defection to APC

Former Abia State Governor and Senator representing Abia North, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, has revealed how a group of lawmakers intervened to stop the reported move to impeach Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.

Speaking with journalists at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja on Tuesday, Senator Kalu confirmed that there were internal efforts to unseat Akpabio but said the attempt failed due to what he described as “a collective stand for unity.”

“Though there were attempts, we didn’t allow that to happen. That is why I always say we are one big family, and it is not going to happen,” Kalu stated.

The former governor explained that the Senate remained focused on its core legislative duties and would continue to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration in addressing the country’s economic challenges.

“Whatever the problem is, the Senate is more interested in making laws that will help President Tinubu overcome the economic difficulties our people are going through,” he said.

Kalu also disclosed that the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Soludo, might soon join the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing him as a natural progressive.

“I think after all the court cases, he (Soludo) is a progressive like myself, President Tinubu, and the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, as well as the governors of Imo, Ebonyi, Enugu, and other APC governors.

“In fact, it is confirmed that he will join the APC. He has no other alternative than to come and join us,”he said.

Tinubu has no real opposition — Kalu

The senator expressed strong confidence in President Tinubu’s chances of securing a second term in office, insisting that the president currently faces no credible opposition.

“Has he got anyone contesting against him? The election is Tinubu versus Tinubu, just like it was Soludo versus Soludo,” Kalu said.
