Oguntoye Aminat Olamide, a Nigerian woman reportedly linked to a controversial same-sex incident in October 2023, has emerged at an LGBT parade in Canada in 2026, where she was seen participating in activities promoting LGBT visibility, inclusion, and freedom of expression.
The development comes approximately three years after an alleged incident involving Oguntoye and Modupe Samson in their Nigerian community.
The two women were reportedly discovered engaging in same-sex sexual activity, prompting a confrontation involving members of the community.
They allegedly fled before the police arrived, with several residents present during the incident. Following the event, both women were said to have gone into hiding amid concerns for their safety and the potential consequences of the allegations.
In 2026, Oguntoye was spotted participating in an LGBT parade in Canada, marking a significant turn in her involvement with the LGBT community abroad.
She was also reported to be volunteering with LGBT organizations and participating in community activities.
The Canadian event brought together several Black participants who identified as Nigerians and Ghanaians. Among those identified were Taiwo Sikirat Akindele, Nkem Uche Offiah, Akhigbe Williams Oleije, Adebanjo Olayinka Ayoke, Oyefusi Feyisayo Michael, and Mensa Charles, a Ghanaian national.
The gathering provided an opportunity for members of the community to express themselves openly and support LGBT visibility. Participants expressed satisfaction with their lives in Canada, describing it as an environment where they felt safer and could express their sexual orientation with greater freedom.
Oguntoye was among those who expressed happiness with her present circumstances, particularly her involvement in volunteer work within the LGBT community.
She reportedly described her life in Canada as considerably more comfortable, with fewer concerns about threats to her personal safety. Other participants similarly expressed confidence in their ability to live openly without fear of threats to their lives due to their sexual orientation.
The development draws attention to the contrasting experiences of LGBT individuals across different social environments, particularly those who face hostility, discrimination, and potential persecution.
For Oguntoye, her appearance at the Canadian parade follows the events of October 2023, bringing her journey and renewed involvement in LGBT activities into focus.
