Dr Olayiwola Awakan, Director-General, Nigerian Tourism Development Authority (NTDA), has said Nigeria’s participation at the 2026 World Travel Market (WTM) in London is aimed at attracting investment and expanding global visibility for its tourism destinations.

Awakan said this in a statement on Wednesday.

According to him, the global tourism exhibition, holding from Nov. 3 to 5, is providing Nigeria with opportunities to showcase its tourism assets and explore new markets.

The statement added that the nation’s participation would also facilitate strategic partnerships with international tour operators, airlines and destination management companies.

Awakan said the authority was using the platform to promote collaboration, innovation and storytelling in showcasing the country’s tourism potential.

The NTDA helmsman said the participation was also supporting efforts to attract investment into tourism infrastructure, hospitality and related services.

According to him, such investments will strengthen tourism’s contribution to economic diversification and job creation under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

He said the Nigeria’s participation would further promote its cultural heritage, natural attractions and emerging tourism products to international audiences.

Awakan said the initiative was expected to increase visitor arrivals and encourage greater private-sector involvement in destination marketing.

The statement added that the Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN) was also facilitating private-sector participation in Nigeria’s presence at the global event.
