A 27- year-old woman, Sarah Williams, was arraigned on Wednesday before a Kaduna Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing four cartons of indomie noodles.

Williams, who resides at Sabon Tasha Kaduna, is standing trial on a one-count charge of stealing to which she pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Chidi Leo, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Oct. 24 at Sabon Tasha market Kaduna.

Leo said the defendant went to the complainant’s (Emeka Godwin) shop and bought two cartons of indomie but when she was going, she went away with six cartons instead of two.

The prosecutor said the defendant was caught and handed over to the police when the complainant raised an alarm.

The alleged offence contravened the Kaduna State Penal Code, 2017.

Counsel to the defendant, Richard Adekunle, pleaded with the court to grant bail to his client on liberal terms.

The Magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, admitted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.

Emmanuel ordered that the surety must provide evidence of tax payment to the Kaduna State Government.

He adjourned the case until Nov. 24, for hearing.
