Woman, 27, docked over alleged N6m fraud

A woman, Opeyemi Adegbemileke, 27, on Friday appeared before an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court charged with obtaining N6 million by false pretence from a firm.
The defendant, who is facing three counts of conspiracy, stealing and fraud, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Prosecutor, ASP Tunji Olaniyi said the defendant allegedly conspired together with others now at large to commit the offence of fraud.
Olaniyi alleged that the defendant between 2023 and 2025 at Amero area in Ajia, Ibadan, obtained by false pretence money and goods worth N6 million from CGF Infinity Solution.
Olaniyi said the offences contravened the provision of Section 386, 419 and 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000.
Defence Counsel, Mr M. F. Suleiman asked the court to grant the defendant bail on liberal terms.
The Magistrate, Mr M. Mudashiru admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N2 million with two sureties in like sum.
Mudashiru held that one of the sureties must be a blood relative with proof of having same parents as the defendant, while the second surety must have an International passport.
He said the passport will be deposited with the court until final determination of the matter,
Mudashiru thereafter adjourned the matter until Aug. 25, for hearing.
