A 29-year-old man, Kudus Kazeem was on Thursday arraigned before a Mapo Grade A Customary Court in Ibadan over an alleged malicious damage of a tricycle engine valued at N1.8 million.

However, Kazeem pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge of malicious damage levelled against him.

The Prosecution Counsel, Insp. Ayodele Ayeni informed the court that the defendant committed the crime between March and July 16, at Ayeye area of Ibadan, Oyo State.

Ayeni said that Kazeem was arrested following credible intelligence by the complainant, Hadijat Safiu that he had maliciously damaged the engine of her tricycle with Reg. No. LUV685QM valued at N1.8 million.

He stated that the offences contravene the provision of Section 451 of the Criminal Code, Cap 38,Vol. ii, law of Oyo State 2000.

Consequently, the Court’s President, Mrs S.M. Akintayo admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N500,000 with two reliable sureties in like sum.

Akintayo directed that each of the sureties must possess three years tax payment to the Oyo State government and a valid identification card.

Thereafter, she adjourned the suit until Aug. 21 for trial.
