2 men docked over alleged theft of N2.95m Coca-Cola products

Two men, Taiwo Abimbola, 27, and Soji Oluyemi, 24, on Friday, appeared before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court, over alleged theft of Coca-Cola products valued at N2.95 million.
The defendants, whose addresses were not provided, are standing trial on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Prosecutor, ASP Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendants and others at large committed the offences sometimes in May at Irona Quarters, Ado-Ekiti.
Oriyomi alleged that the defendants conspired to steal Coca-Cola products valued at N2.95 milion belonging to one Olubunmi Ayodele.
He said that the offences contravened the provisions of Section 421 and 302 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State,2021.
Defence counsel, Mr Opeyemi Esan, urged the court to grant the defendants bail, with a promise that they would not jump bail.
The Magistrate, Mr Abayomi Adeosun granted the defendants bail in the sum of N200,000 each, with one surety each in like sum.
He adjourned the case until Aug 11, for hearing.
