The late Emir of Gusau, Alhaji Ibrahim Bello, was laid to rest in a public cemetery in Gusau, Zamfara State honouring his personal wish to forgo the traditional royal family burial ground.

Chairman of the Zamfara Council of Chiefs and Emir of Anka, Alhaji Attahiru Ahmad, disclosed this while paying tribute to the late monarch. He said the Emir had specifically directed that he be buried among the public, a decision that reflected his humility.

Ahmad described the late emir as a God-fearing and sincere leader who was known for his jovial and approachable nature throughout his 10-year reign. “He shared love, understanding and kept his promises with his subjects,” he noted.

Alhaji Ibrahim Bello died at age 71 in a private hospital in Abuja after a prolonged illness.

His funeral prayer on Friday in Gusau drew a massive crowd, including Governor Dauda Lawal, Deputy Governor Mani Mummuni, and several national and state lawmakers.
