The Ogun State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to upgrading facilities and infrastructure at the Social Development Institute, Shasha, Iperu, with plans for renovation set to begin soon.

Commissioner for Community Development and Cooperatives, Hon. Ademola Balogun, gave the assurance during a briefing at his Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta office.

In a statement signed by his Press Officer, Ms Yemisi Fashola, he stressed that educational infrastructure is vital to unlocking the economic potential and growth of any state, making the institute’s improvement a top priority.

“As a government, we know that having proper infrastructure with all necessary facilities in place positively impacts teaching and learning. This administration is committed to giving teachers and students the best environment to perform effectively, which in turn drives the state’s economic growth,” he said.

He further explained that the renovation of the Social Development Institute remains a foremost priority for the current administration and would be undertaken promptly.

Hon. Balogun noted that the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led government is determined to create a supportive teaching and learning atmosphere to ensure student success. He revealed that although a contract for the upgrade had been awarded, execution was delayed due to price fluctuations in building materials.

According to him, a joint team from the state and the contractor will reassess the facility before work commences, as the administration is committed to delivering a lasting legacy project in Shasha, Iperu.

The Commissioner assured students of the government’s dedication to transforming the institution, emphasising continued investment in their welfare and in creating an improved quality of life for all residents of the state.
