United Nigeria Airlines has assured its passengers that its operations remain safe and fully compliant with regulatory standards despite the ongoing strike by workers of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet).

In a statement released on Thursday in Lagos, the airline’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Chibuike Uloka, confirmed that while NiMet plays a crucial role in providing meteorological support to the aviation sector, the airline’s operations are continuing smoothly, relying on alternative and internationally-recognised weather data sources.

The airline stated that it has deployed organised weather data systems, which include real-time satellite monitoring, global aviation meteorology systems, pilot weather reports, and coordination with air traffic control services, to ensure seamless flight operations.

“Our flight planning and dispatch teams are fully equipped and working round-the-clock to guarantee that all safety protocols are strictly followed and that passenger comfort remains uninterrupted,” the statement read.

The airline further acknowledged the vital role NiMet plays in aviation safety and expressed its support for efforts to resolve the strike promptly, urging for a swift and constructive resolution to minimise any potential disruptions to flight operations across the country.

NiMet staff members began an indefinite strike on April 22, impacting their services
