Bi-Courtney stresses commitment to zero tolerance for violence at MM2

Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Ltd., operator of Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal Two (MMA2), has reiterated its zero-tolerance policy toward violence within the terminal, especially against personnel.

The Head of Corporate Communications, Mrs Ajoke Yinka-Olawuyi, stated this in a statement in Lagos on Thursday.

She recalled that on April 20, a disruption occurred at an airline’s check-in counter at MMA2 due to passenger agitation over a system error.

During efforts to calm the situation, an Aviation Security (AVSEC) officer was physically assaulted by a male passenger at the scene.

Yinka-Olawuyi noted this mirrored a similar December 2024 incident, where another staff member was also attacked while performing their duties.

She condemned these violent acts, emphasising that assault against staff or service providers at MMA2 will never be tolerated.

“The matter was promptly escalated, and the offending passenger has been handed to the police for further investigation and legal action,” she said.

She added that such incidents are deeply concerning and Bi-Courtney will act firmly to protect all staff working within MMA2.

“All terminal users must resolve issues lawfully and respectfully. Our staff are here to assist and must be treated with dignity,” she stated.

Yinka-Olawuyi confirmed that Bi-Courtney would continue following the case to ensure appropriate justice is achieved.

She reaffirmed the operator’s commitment to providing a secure, respectful, and safe environment by working with authorities to enforce its anti-violence policy.
