…Says President’s reforms are stabilising Nigeria
…Blasts critics as “expired political figures” stuck in the past
The National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, has issued a strong message to critics of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, urging them not to underestimate the President’s leadership credentials and commitment to national transformation.
Speaking at the 2025 National Cybersecurity Conference held in Abuja, Ribadu asserted that Nigeria is becoming increasingly secure, more politically stable, and a more attractive destination for investment, due to what he described as strategic reforms initiated under President Tinubu’s leadership.
He dismissed criticisms from what he characterised as “expired political figures” who, according to him, continue to seek undue relevance in the public space. Ribadu argued that Nigerians have become more discerning and are no longer swayed by propaganda or empty rhetoric.
“Things are changing. We are stabilising this country. Forget what some people are saying — Nigeria is getting safer and better every single day,” Ribadu said.
The NSA pointed to notable improvements in security across regions previously plagued by unrest, including the Niger Delta and South-East, attributing the turnaround to proactive government measures and partnerships with security agencies and technology providers.
“The Niger Delta is safer than ever. The South-East is returning to normal. Those instigating unrest from abroad will be identified and prosecuted. We will not allow foreign interests to disrupt our progress,” he warned.
Ribadu described President Tinubu as a “digital, enlightened and visionary leader,” asserting that those who continue to underestimate his capabilities do so at their own risk.
“We have quality leadership in Nigeria today. Mr President is digitally savvy, well-educated, and deeply informed. Anyone underestimating him is making a serious mistake,” Ribadu stated.
In a pointed criticism of political opponents and media personalities, the NSA accused many of contributing little to national development, stating that their current criticism stems from a desire to remain relevant after years of mismanaging the country’s resources.
“These are people who looted and mismanaged the nation. Now they’re making noise on television. Their time is up — Nigeria has moved forward, and the citizens are more informed,” he said.
He further encouraged telecommunications providers, tech entrepreneurs, and global investors to engage with Nigeria, describing the country as Africa’s emerging digital and economic leader.
“Our cybersecurity architecture is solid. Nigeria is stable and open for investment. The world should understand that Nigeria represents the future of Africa,” Ribadu added.
He concluded by calling for unity and public confidence in the Tinubu administration, urging Nigerians to disregard what he referred to as “expired voices of the past” and instead focus on building a stronger, more prosperous nation.
