United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, known as Africa’s Global Bank, has unveiled a simplified instant account opening digital platform.
This innovation is engineered to make banking faster, more accessible, and truly borderless for customers across the African continent and in the diaspora.
The new platform enables prospective users to complete their entire onboarding journey online, effectively removing traditional obstacles such as physical paperwork and mandatory branch visits.
Through this digital portal, customers can initiate their banking relationship via any web-enabled device by simply selecting their country and preferred language.
The system supports both Naira and Diaspora account openings, catering to UBA’s expansive pan-African footprint and international presence.
To ensure a balance between speed and security, the platform integrates digital KYC features including facial verification and electronic signatures, allowing users to receive an active account number in a matter of minutes.
Security remains a cornerstone of the new service, as the platform aligns strictly with global data privacy standards. It is fully compliant with the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), providing a robust legal framework for international clients.
By matching the agility of fintech companies with the institutional strength of a leading global bank, UBA aims to provide a reliable yet high-speed alternative to traditional commercial banking methods.
Shamsideen Fashola, the Group Head of Retail and Digital Banking, noted that the launch reinforces the bank’s mission to democratize access to financial services through technology.
He emphasized that the solution is designed for anyone, whether on the continent or abroad, to open an account with ease.
Supporting this vision, Alero Ladipo, Group Head of Brand, Marketing, and Corporate Communication, highlighted that the platform successfully blends industry-leading digital convenience with stringent regulatory compliance to meet the expectations of modern consumers.
With operations spanning 20 African countries and major global hubs like New York, London, Paris, and Dubai, UBA continues to lead in financial inclusion. The bank currently serves over 50 million customers worldwide, and this latest digital expansion further solidifies its role as a pioneer in technology-driven banking solutions for a global audience.
