Prominent educationist and Proprietor of Adedokun International Schools, Alhaja Romoke Adedokun, has urged Nigerian women to pursue career success without neglecting their core family responsibilities, warning that unchecked ambition often leads to imbalance and regret.
Speaking on Saturday at the Thriving Women Conference in Lagos, Adedokun delivered a thought-provoking presentation titled “Blending Career Pursuit with Family Life.” She emphasised that passion must be guided by vision, sustained by knowledge, and balanced with faith and family.
She said: “Passion is the fire that keeps you going when no one is clapping. But without vision, passion can easily turn into exhaustion.”
She lamented that many modern women now measure success by wealth or public recognition rather than peace and family harmony, urging a return to value-driven living.
“True success is not one that distances you from your family, but one that allows you to grow together with them,” Adedokun added.
Sharing her personal journey, Adedokun revealed how faith and resilience guided her from civil service to founding a thriving educational institution.
She narrated how she started Adedokun International Schools with just 23 pupils, trusting God and staying committed to excellence despite financial challenges.
She stressed that time management and humility remain critical for women juggling multiple responsibilities.
“Your professional life should not intercept your personal life.
“With the right priorities and boundaries, you can succeed at work and still be present at home.”
Adedokun further advised women to nurture strong family bonds, describing the home as “the first board of directors” that shapes stability and emotional balance.
“Success feels most meaningful when you and your loved ones rise together,” she added.
