Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has appointed his elder brother, Alhaji Adamu Mohammed, as the Emir of the newly established Duguri Emirate.
The appointment was formally announced on Friday during a ceremony held at the Duguri palace in Alkaleri Local Government Area, where the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Aminu Hammayo, presented the official letter on behalf of the governor.
In his remarks, Hammayo charged the new emir to support government policies and initiatives aimed at promoting sustainable growth and peace across the state.
Responding, Emir Adamu Mohammed expressed gratitude to Governor Bala Mohammed for the honour, pledging his loyalty to the Bauchi State Government and the Bauchi Emirate Council. He prayed for divine wisdom to lead his people justly.
In a related development, Alhaji Jibrin D. Hassan was also presented with an appointment letter as the Emir of Bununu Emirate. The SSG urged him to govern with fairness, uphold the rule of law, and ensure inclusivity among all tribes for lasting peace.
Recall that Governor Bala Mohammed recently signed a law establishing 13 new emirates across Bauchi State, marking a significant restructuring of the traditional leadership system.
