President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived in Ankara, the capital of the Republic of Türkiye, to commence a strategic State Visit aimed at deepening bilateral relations between the two nations.

His aircraft touched down at the Ankara Esenboğa Airport at exactly 9:03 pm local time on Monday.

Upon his arrival at the airport, the President was received by a Turkish government delegation led by the Minister of National Education, Yusuf Tekin.

They were joined by the Chargé d’Affaires at the Nigerian Embassy in Türkiye, Ambassador Zayyad Abdulsalam, and other senior embassy officials who were on hand to facilitate the diplomatic reception.

The welcome formalities continued at the President’s hotel, where a significant contingent of the Nigerian cabinet and senior government officials had gathered to receive him.

Among the high-ranking officials present were the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN; the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun; and the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Mr. Dele Alake.

The security and intelligence sectors were represented by the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (rtd); the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo; and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed.

Other key figures at the reception included the Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim; the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Kingsley Udeh, SAN; the Chairman of the House Committee on Defence, Babajimi Benson; and the Special Adviser to the President on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala.

The State Visit is poised to strengthen the existing cordial ties between Nigeria and Türkiye, with a focus on exploring new areas of cooperation for a mutually beneficial partnership.

During the visit, President Tinubu is scheduled to hold high-level discussions with his Turkish counterpart, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

The engagement is expected to feature the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) across various sectors
