TCN restores power supply through 132KV Owerri-Ahoda transmission line to grid

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has successfully restored bulk power supply through its 132 Kilovolt (KV) Owerri-Ahoada transmission line to the national grid.

Mrs Ndidi Mbah, TCN’s General Manager for Public Affairs, confirmed in a statement on Monday in Abuja that the line was reconnected to the grid at approximately 6 p.m. on April 11.

The restoration came after extensive reconstruction efforts on the line, which had been disrupted by vandalism that caused the collapse of four transmission towers.

“With this restoration, the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHEDC) is now able to supply electricity to Bayelsa and parts of Rivers,” Mbah said.

These regions had been facing prolonged power outages since March 11, when towers 71 to 74 along the transmission line route were damaged by vandals.

Mbah reiterated TCN’s commitment to ensuring a reliable power supply across Nigeria and called on local communities to actively support the fight against the vandalism of critical transmission infrastructure.
