A Taiwanese multinational conglomerate and global tech leader, Foxconn, has expressed interest in establishing a manufacturing plant in Ogun State.

The company’s AVP, Corporate BD Chairman Office, Mr. Vincent Lee, disclosed this at the weekend when he led a delegation to meet with the State Governor, Ogun State, at the Gateway City Gate Interchange along the Abeokuta-Sagamu Expressway.

Mr. Lee noted that Foxconn, the world’s largest contract electronics manufacturer with an annual revenue base of over $200 billion, employs thousands globally across its facilities. He said the visit was to explore investment opportunities in Ogun State with a view to setting up operations.

“We are here in Ogun State today to meet with His Excellency to discuss opportunities that will lead to establishing our business here,” Mr. Lee said.

Governor Abiodun, while welcoming the team, said Ogun State was emerging as Africa’s investment and ICT powerhouse due to reforms and a business-friendly environment fostered by his administration.

He emphasised that the State’s innovative approach to revenue generation and attraction of private capital, without over-reliance on federal allocations, has positioned it as an economic model for Nigeria.

The Governor stressed his administration’s commitment to ICT as a central driver of growth, from automating revenue processes to supporting digital entrepreneurs, unveiling tech hubs, and forging partnerships with global firms.

“By actively engaging investors and highlighting Ogun’s unique advantages, strategic location, skilled workforce, industrial base, and supportive policies, we continue to showcase Ogun as a hub for technological advancement,” Abiodun stated.

He also revealed that the introduction of advanced geo-mapping systems had enhanced transparency in land allocation, boosting investor confidence and eliminating multiple allocations.

Calling on both local and international investors, Abiodun declared Ogun as Nigeria’s “industrial gateway” and one of Africa’s most attractive destinations for innovation and investment.

Other members of the Foxconn delegation included Mr. Jesse Chao, Senior Director, Corporate BD Chairman Office, and Mr. Brian Chen, Counselor, Government Relations.
