LAGOS — A Lagos family has alleged that armed men invaded their residence in the early hours of September 20, 2025, carrying out a violent attack that reportedly left several family members injured and one woman sexually assaulted.

According to a complaint lodged at the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Alagbon, Ikoyi, Lagos, the incident occurred at about 1:00 a.m. when suspected armed men allegedly stormed the family’s residence on Beecroft Street, Lagos Island.

The complaint was reportedly filed by Mr. Emmanuel Aremu, 35, and his sister, Mrs. Kemi Aremu, 40, who told investigators that the attackers forcefully entered their home, ransacked the premises and robbed the occupants.

Emmanuel alleged that he was assaulted during the attack and sustained serious injuries after being repeatedly struck on the head. He further claimed that his sister was sexually assaulted by the assailants, while their elderly mother was severely beaten and left unconscious with multiple injuries and bleeding.

According to the statement made to investigators, local vigilantes eventually intervened, prompting the attackers to flee. The injured victims were subsequently rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

The complainants further alleged that one of the attackers repeatedly called out the name of their elder sister, Mrs. Oluranti Aremu Balogun, during the incident, suggesting that she may have been the primary target of the attack.

Emmanuel told investigators that he suspects the attack may be connected to a longstanding dispute involving his sister and a former police officer identified as Tafar Mohammed. He alleged that disagreements between the two parties had previously led to threats and other conflicts. However, no evidence has yet been publicly presented linking the former officer to the reported attack.

Police sources indicated that the matter has been documented and remains under investigation. As of the time of filing this report, no arrests had been made and the perpetrators were still at large.

Authorities have appealed to members of the public who may possess useful information regarding the incident to contact the nearest police station or relevant law enforcement agencies.

The case has generated concern among residents and community members, with growing calls for a thorough investigation and the apprehension of those responsible.

Police say efforts are ongoing to identify and arrest the suspects while ensuring justice for the victims.
