The Vice-Chancellor of Covenant University, Prof. Timothy Anake, has called on governments at all levels to build an enabling environment that empowers girls and women to realise their full potential.

Speaking in Ota, Ogun State, Anake stressed that many nations anchor their development on the strength of women, who play pivotal roles in family life and community well-being.

He urged society to celebrate the resilience and accomplishments of women, while taking concrete steps to dismantle stereotypes and systemic barriers that hinder their progress.

“Empowering girls and women is key to securing a better future. When we create space for them to thrive, we uplift entire communities,” he said.

The vice-chancellor further noted that opening up opportunities for women would not only boost national development but also reduce crime and social unrest by fostering inclusion and equity.
