Governor Abdullahi A. Sule of Nasarawa State has called for party cohesion and a collective resolve among members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the state prepares for its upcoming congresses.
Speaking on Tuesday during a high-level stakeholders’ meeting at the Aliyu Akwe Doma Banquet Hall in Lafia, the Governor emphasized that a unified front is the only path toward consolidating the party’s political dominance across the state.
The engagement served as a strategic platform for the Governor to reach out to the various factions and interests within the APC, with the goal of reconciling differences and affirming collective decisions.
Governor Sule stressed that the primary objective of his administration’s involvement is to close existing gaps and build a more resilient party structure capable of weathering the rigors of future electoral cycles.
He noted that the strength of the APC in Nasarawa lies in its ability to manage internal diversity through inclusive dialogue.
Addressing the concerns of aspirants and party faithful, Governor Sule provided a firm assurance that the congress process would be governed by strict adherence to party guidelines and constitutional due diligence.
He pledged that the exercise would be conducted in a free, fair, and transparent manner, designed to encourage broad participation from the grassroots to the state level. By prioritizing internal democracy, the Governor aims to prevent the friction often associated with leadership transitions within the party hierarchy.
The meeting featured an impressive assembly of the state’s political elite, signaling a unified stance among the party’s top brass.
In attendance was former Governor and Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, alongside members of the State Executive Council and both serving and former legislators from the National and State Assemblies.
The presence of local government chairmen and a diverse array of aspirants further underscored the importance of the meeting in setting the tone for the forthcoming internal elections.
As the APC prepares for these pivotal congresses, the Governor’s call for unity serves as both a roadmap and a warning that internal fragmentation remains the greatest threat to political progress.
The session concluded with a general consensus among stakeholders to uphold the Governor’s vision of a transparent and inclusive selection process that reflects the true will of the party membership.
