The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused Governor Ademola Adeleke of being “needlessly and excessively jittery” over the emergence of Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji as the party’s governorship candidate in the recent seamless consensus primary election held in Osogbo on 13th December, 2025.

In a statement signed by Mogaji Kola Olabisi, Osun APC Director of Media and Information, the party dismissed the governor’s public outbursts over comments by APC National Chairman Professor Nentawe Yilwatda as “balderdash” and an illustration of his inability to deliver quality governance.

The statement reads partly: “It would be recalled that the governor through his spokesman was throwing needless tantrums at the national chairman of the APC, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, over his assuring statement that the APC could not afford to lose any other state after Anambra State that was won by another party recently.

“It is balderdash for the verifiably embattled Governor Adeleke who is yet to know the possibility of having a platform to even contest to continue to engage on the mundane issues that further registered his lack of what is required to give quality governance to the people of the state.

“Mr. Adeleke should realise that the people of the state who cannot continue to be taken for granted by his gaffe, ridiculous public appearances and abysmal performance in the public office for the past three years are now wiser that his best are neither desirable nor suitable for the required tools to effectively transform the state.

“The influenced and skewed netizens on the social media being bandied by the disorganised governor as being the voices of the independent-minded people asking for his re-election are nothing but a charade which is not capable of conferring any added advantage on his k-legged aspiration.”

The APC statement went on to accuse Adeleke of presiding over widespread failures in the education and health sectors, highlighting the sacking of 1,500 teachers and the collapse of public hospitals as examples of governance lapses.

It also urged the governor to prepare for a handover, arguing that the factors that facilitated his 2022 election no longer exist and that former allies have moved to the APC.

The party further challenged Governor Adeleke to a televised debate with Oyebamiji, describing the APC candidate as “lettered, tested, very educated, reliable, witty and resourceful,” and expressing confidence that such an engagement would demonstrate the stark contrast in leadership quality.

The statement added that Adeleke’s purported popularity is overstated and that the people of Osun are “tired of mere edifices without functional services,” signalling the APC’s intention to capitalise on perceived public dissatisfaction ahead of the 8th August 2026 governorship election.
