2026 Polls: Osun APC gov’ship primary kicks off in Osogbo

…INEC, security agencies oversee exercise as 1,660 delegates vote

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State on Saturday commenced its governorship primary election ahead of the 2026 general election.

The exercise is taking place at Ebunoluwa International School, Offa-Tedo, with delegates, party officials and observers already on ground.

Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) are present to monitor the process, while security operatives have been deployed to maintain order and ensure the safety of participants.

A total of 1,660 delegates drawn from the state’s 30 local government areas are expected to take part in the primary.

Only two aspirants — Mulikat Abiola Jimoh and Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji — are contesting the ticket, following the clearance issued by the party’s screening committee. Seven other aspirants were earlier disqualified for failing to meet the nomination requirements.

Party officials expressed confidence that the process would be peaceful and transparent, as the APC moves to select its flagbearer for the 2026 Osun governorship election.
