Vice President Kashim Shettima arrived in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Thursday to commission the newly constructed 33.5-kilometer Elele–Egbeda–Omoku Dual Carriageway.

The trip marks the Vice President’s immediate return to official national duties following the completion of his two-week leave.

Upon landing at the Port Harcourt International Airport from Abuja, the Vice President was received by Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara alongside top state government officials and key dignitaries.

The 33.5-kilometer dual carriageway spans three local government areas—Ikwerre, Emohua, and Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni. Built as one of the major infrastructure projects under Governor Fubara’s administration, the road is designed to boost regional connectivity, ease movement and open up economic opportunities for local communities and businesses.

Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications (Office of the Vice President), Stanley Nkwocha, noted on Thursday that the Vice President’s trip highlights the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led Federal Government’s commitment to collaborating with state administrations to advance national infrastructure and economic growth.
