The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has issued a seven-day ultimatum to President Bola Tinubu to order a probe into the alleged diversion of N2.9 billion in funds at the Nigerian Communications Satellite Ltd (NIGCOMSAT) and the Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NNRA).

In a letter dated April 11, 2026, signed by Deputy Director Kolawole Oluwadare, SERAP urged the President to direct the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, along with agency management, to account for the missing funds.

The organization also called on the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), and anti-corruption agencies to ensure the recovery of any diverted assets.

The allegations, stemming from an Auditor-General’s report released in September 2025, suggest significant financial mismanagement. Specifically, the report claims NIGCOMSAT failed to account for over N465 million used for unauthorized investments, while the NNRA reportedly made payments for items never supplied and engaged in unverified training expenses.

SERAP emphasized that accountability in these agencies is critical to Nigeria’s digital economy and national safety.

The group warned that it would initiate legal action if the government fails to act within the stipulated timeframe, noting that unresolved corruption allegations weaken public confidence in state institutions.
