Security Operatives rescue seven kidnapped victims in Kaduna

A joint operation conducted by the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), the Nigerian Army, and the Department of State Services (DSS) has resulted in the rescue of seven kidnapped victims in Kaduna State. 

The rescued individuals were transported to Katari Hospital for medical evaluation. 

They are currently reported to be in stable condition and are awaiting reunion with their families. 

This development follows the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan Disu's deployment of the Deputy Inspector-General of Police (Operations), DIG Shehu Umar Nadada, to Kaduna State. 

This move was a direct response to the recent attack in Ariko Village, near the Gurara Dam. 

On April 5, 2026, armed bandits attacked the ECWA and Catholic churches within the community, firing indiscriminately. The assault resulted in five fatalities, while approximately fourteen others were abducted. 

In response to the tragedy, the IGP ordered an immediate operational intervention. DIG Nadada was dispatched to assess the situation on-site and coordinate security efforts aimed at restoring order and securing the release of the remaining captives. 

The IGP affirmed that operations are ongoing to rescue the rest of the victims and apprehend the perpetrators. He urged the public to remain vigilant, cooperate with security agencies, and provide credible information to support these efforts.
