Katsina Governor convenes emergency security meeting

Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda has convened an emergency Security Council meeting at the Government House to address escalating security concerns.

The ongoing session has brought together a broad coalition of top security officials, underscoring the gravity of the situation.

Attendees include senior officers from the Nigerian Army and Defence Headquarters, alongside operatives from the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Police Force.

Representatives from the Nigeria Immigration Service, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Nigeria Customs Service, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the Federal Fire Service, and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) are also in attendance.

The meeting also involves Chairmen from the affected local government areas, the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and other senior government officials.

Reports indicate that the council is reviewing the current security landscape and exploring strategies to improve coordination among agencies to neutralize threats across the state.

This urgent intervention follows reports of coordinated bandit attacks on two communities in the Matazu Local Government Area, which resulted in the death of a police officer and injuries to two civilians. Those injured are currently receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.
