Primaries: Kwara APC reconciliation committee submits report

The Kwara State All Progressives Congress (APC) Reconciliation Committee has submitted its report to the state working committee of the party.

On July 3rd, the party set up the five-member committee, chaired by Col. AbdulWahab Ademola Lawal (rtd.), to resolve internal disputes following the party’s primary elections held in May.

Presenting the report at the party secretariat on Friday in Ilorin, Lawal commended Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq and the party executives for their trust and for giving the committee the opportunity to serve.

He said the committee invited all aggrieved members during their findings and provided them with a level playing field to air their grievances, a step he noted greatly aided their work.

Lawal added that the committee received assurances from members to remain in the party and not go back to Egypt.

“I want to say that on the mandate given to us, we received the blessings of Governor AbdulRazaq, and the Party Chairman made it clear to us: Please allow everybody to vent their anger and sentiments, and do what is needful,'” Lawal said, adding that the report would go a long way toward resolving the disagreements.

“We made it clear to them that this is a family affair; no one is outside the family. All of us are together in this family. But disagreements are bound to happen, and therefore they should see us as mediators,” he added.

Earlier, the State APC Chairman, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, thanked the committee for its selfless efforts and pledged that the party’s state leadership would do everything humanly possible to do justice to the report.

He described Col. Lawal as highly disciplined and a diplomat par excellence, adding that all members of the committee are individuals of integrity.

“When we go through the report, we will do all that is humanly possible to ensure we remain united as a family. We are appealing to all who are aggrieved to await the actions that will be taken following the presentation of the committee’s report,” Fagbemi said.

Other members of the reconciliation committee include retired Assistant Comptroller General of Immigration Ahmed Abbas, Engr. Musa Yeketi, Dr. (Mrs.) Oluwatoyin Opawoye, and Hajia Kubura Kassum.
