Politician’s home attacked, son kidnapped

The home of Alhaji Tajudeen Kolawole Fantola in Odinjo area of Ibadan was attacked in a commando-like style in the early hours of June 12, 2022 by some men dressed in military camouflage. The attackers, who were armed with sophisticated weapons, ransacked the whole house while searching for the popular politician.

When it became obvious that Alhaji Fantola was not in the house, his youngest son, Mubarak Fantola was seized and carried away by the armed men who destroyed properties worth millions of Naira before they left.

According to an investigation by our reporters, it took the combined efforts of the police and local vigilantes coupled with Alhaji Fantola’s strong connections and a large ransom before Mubarak was able to regain his freedom after 13 harrowing days in the kidnappers’ den.

Friends and family members who know Mubarak Fantola closely claimed he was not the same after the kidnapping situation as he had lost his usual lively personality and gets easily scared.
