More witnesses have emerged in the police investigation into the case of Oyekuowa Timileyin Oluwakoya, who has reportedly been on the run since a sex video involving him and another man, identified as Olayemi John, surfaced online in 2023.

The video was reportedly recorded on the night of August 31, 2023, and later circulated widely after it was allegedly posted online by one of John’s sisters, who was said to have witnessed the same-sex romance between the two men at their family home.

The video subsequently spread beyond the immediate community, with reports that it was viewed by people in different parts of the country.

Following the incident, Oyekuowa, an indigene of Ondo State, reportedly left the area and has continued to evade efforts to locate him. His family members said attempts to find him have continued since 2024.

Olayemi’s family has maintained that he was allegedly lured into the sexual act by Oyekuowa, who they claimed took advantage of John’s vulnerable state following the death of his child.

According to the family’s account, Oyekuowa visited John under the guise of offering condolences after the death of his son the previous day, but his visit had another motive.

The Olayemi’s further alleged that Oyekuowa exploited John’s emotional vulnerability to persuade him to engage in the same-sex activity.

The leaked sex video was later shared among family members before it became widely circulated which prompted the suspect Oyekuowa Timilehin took to his heels and become a fugitive since then.

The family has also expressed concern over the manner in which the police are treating the matter, stressing that same-sex sexual activity is not legally acceptable in Nigeria hence Oyekuowa should be arrested and face persecution.

The police has however intensified efforts to finding Oyekuowa particularly in his hometown in Erekiti, Ondo State leading to more witnesses and testimonies against the illicit sexual acts of the suspect.

Oyekuowa’s uncle Mr Oyekuowa Olakunle reportedly told investigators that his nephew had been involved in same-sex relationships for about 14 years.

He affirmed to have personally punished him on several occasions in an effort to stop the abominable practice, but Oyekuowa Timilehin eventually left Ondo State for Lagos just to continue the perpetration of the sexual crime.

Other members of the family, including some of his aunties who requested anonymity, also claimed that they had made efforts to discourage him from engaging in same-sex activity.

The women claimed to have previously taken Timilehin to church for spiritual cleansing and that the family had repeatedly attempted to address the issue but Oyekuowa was unrepentant.

The relatives however tender their disclaimer of Oyekuowa Timilehin and told investigators that the authorities should take appropriate action against him if he is eventually found.

Oyekuowa’s wife who acted indifferent said she became aware of the situation after the sex video surfaced and subsequently contacted her husband to ask him several questions which he could not give explicable answer till he finally absconded since September 2023.

In the course of the investigation, police reportedly traced Oyekowa’s steps to one of his friends house in Ifo area of Ogun State. The friend Akinkunmi Shola confirmed that Oyekowa came to stay with him around September 2023 and remained at his residence for about a month.

He allegedly told investigators that Oyekuowa initially misrepresented himself before staying with him and that he later discovered aspects of his conduct that made him uncomfortable.

Akinkunmi also attested that Oyekuowa is not a man to be trusted because he frequently overheard his guest speaking quietly on the phone about bisexuality and plans to travel out of the country rather than talking about debts which was the reason he tendered for hiding in his place.

Akinkunmi reiterated on chasing Oyekuowa away from his house before hearing about his bisexual scandal.

Since the scandal emerged, efforts have reportedly been made to locate Oyekuowa across different parts of Nigeria, but he has not been found. Some witnesses suggested that he may have left the country, although his current whereabouts have not been established.

The police have reportedly submitted information concerning the case to relevant authorities and maintained that Oyekuowa should be brought in for questioning wherever he is found.

The investigation remains ongoing, with the accounts of the various witnesses forming part of the information being examined by the authorities.
