A Nigerian man, Okozogbon Adeba Monday has narrated how his desperation for gainful employment after he lost a lucrative job, led him to a gay partner.
Monday who is a professional driver said he worked as a contract staff with Total E&P from 2004 to 2015 December in Lagos State, Nigeria.
According to him, “I began to search for a job to keep my family moving because of what they will eat and their education.
“So, in 2020, I traveled to Benin City, Edo State, still in search of a job. I met one Alhaji who have many cattle and other businesses in a village called Oria in Esan.
“He (Alhaji) said he will offer me an appointment. I quickly agreed and promised to do my best. we were living together in his House. The Alhaji then took me to a village called Oria in Esan, where he also have cattles and business.
“Alhaji provided almost everything we needed, including my basic needs.”
According to Monday, Alhaji gave him a pet name, “my dear,” and does not allow him to go out of the house. Also, the Alhaji usually lock the doors when he is going to do his business. That was how the issue of gay started between him and Alhaji and later turned him to his sexual toy.
“We became his wife. He gives me hard currency after selling his cattle. I had no option because I needed money to take care of my family all because I didn’t have place of my own.
“Then, on the 20th of June 2021 which was on Sunday, a day I will never forget. I don’t know how the villagers got the information, we were cut out for sex.
“I believe they may have seen us through the window. it was around 8.Pm. The villagers surrounded the place, they said we committed abomination in the land because Nigerian law also prescribed penalty for gays
“They began to break our doors. As they were doing that, I quickly hid my hard earned currency in my underwear.
“The villagers then brought us out and said we will be sacrificed. We were tied with rope and given the beating of our lives.
“They thereafter blindfolded us, took us inside the forest which is the cells dark and separated from each other.
“While we were in the forest, they kept us in a small place built with an iron rod. At the place, I could only hear the voice when someone was crying or singing.
“I also heard ladies voice, I believed they were lesbians. Each time they sacrificed them to the gods I will hear them crying, and afterwards, they will behead the person and cut off the head then open the small hole of the door and show me.
“The villagers will tell me it will soon be my turn. I was praying to God to give me a second chance every time.
“One day in 2023 which is the election time that made me to escape, I believe is God’s intervention and my wife and kids who don’t know where I am.
“I think God used that person. I believe there was a problem between the political parties which led to them fighting each other.
“I heard it, sounded like a gun. I said maybe it is my last day. In few minutes, there was also a sound on my cell door as if the key cut off. I put my face down and noticed the door push opened.
“The person left because I saw light going. That’s when I came out and just entered the forest that night.
“I spent three days to get to a place.
But I can’t come out like that, because people will think I am insane. I was then fortunate, I found some used clothes in an uncompleted building which I quickly wore.
“I moved out and boarded a vehicle to Abuja. When I got to Abuja, I exchanged my hard currency and quickly bought all this Muslim women covered dress and shoe.
“I walked to an uncompleted building and put on my new clothes to disguise because I knew the authorities had launched a manhunt for me.
“I checked into a local hotel, where I later sent for phone and line. that was when I was able to tell my wife I am alive. I told her not to let anyone to know because I can’t visit or come.
I exchanged other hard earned currency with me and contacted a travel agent who made necessary arrangements for me. That was how I left Nigeria to France on the 8th of February 2025.
Meanwhile in order to permanently escape from the consequences of gay practice which is highly prohibited in Nigeria, I finally left Nigeria for France February 8, 2025 and arrived the following morning.
Sources said police in a message to the general public have appealed for help and assistance to ensure the arrest of Okozogbon Adeba popularly known as my dear.
The message is also asking anyone with useful information about his whereabouts to report to the nearest police station across the country, as the increase in homosexual/bisexual activities is quite alarming and a big offense in the country which must be gotten rid of.
