Security operatives in Osun State, supported by community volunteers and local organizations, have launched an intensive manhunt for two suspects who escaped police custody following their arrest at a private gathering.
The individuals, identified as Aremu Busari and Ganiyu Adekunle Muideen, were among twelve suspects apprehended during a targeted raid on a hotel in Osun on Sunday, May 7, 2023.
Acting on intelligence reports regarding an alleged secret party, officers transferred the detainees to the Ataoja Police Division for processing.
The suspects were scheduled for arraignment on Monday, May 8, 2023.
However, security operatives discovered that Busari and Muideen had fled the facility under circumstances that remain under investigation.
The breach has prompted a rigorous internal inquiry within the Osun State Police Command to determine the exact nature of the escape and identify any potential procedural lapses.
Following intelligence leads, operatives conducted a search of Muideen’s residence, though family members present during the raid maintained they had no knowledge of his current location.
Local residents and community groups have since joined the search efforts, while wanted posters featuring photographs and descriptions of the two men have been distributed across strategic locations in the state.
Authorities have officially announced a financial reward for any credible information leading to the successful re-arrest of the fugitives.
Security agencies continue to urge members of the public to remain vigilant and report any relevant findings to the nearest police station or through designated emergency hotlines.
